Christy Knowings, who spent three seasons as part of the beloved ensemble cast of Nickelodeon's sketch comedy series All That, has died at age 46, according to a new report. Knowings suffered a severe asthma attack on Friday, August 7, that resulted in brain damage, family members told TMZ. She was placed on life support at a hospital in the Los Angeles area, and her family made the difficult decision to take her off life support on Tuesday, August 11, when she passed away.
Her Time on 'All That'
Knowings joined the cast of All That in its fourth season and remained a fixture of the show through 32 episodes across three seasons, from 1997 to 2000, later returning as a guest performer during the show's tenth and final season. Among her most memorable characters were Winter Wonders, a comedic riff on Olympic swimmer Summer Sanders, alongside recurring roles as Brenda Stone on the show's "Channel 6½ News" segment and news anchor Penny Lane. She was discovered after appearing in the pilot for And Now This, a Rosie O'Donnell-produced Nickelodeon sketch special that wasn't picked up to series but led directly to her casting on All That.
All That, frequently described as "Saturday Night Live for kids," ran for a decade from 1994 to 2005 and helped launch the careers of numerous future stars, including Kenan Thompson, Amanda Bynes, Nick Cannon, Kel Mitchell, Josh Server, Lori Beth Denberg, Alisa Reyes, and Katrina Johnson.

Saturday Night Live star and fellow All That alum Kenan Thompson shared an emotional tribute on Instagram following the news. "Man this one hit hard!!! Rest well Christy!!! Never could have imagined this day!! Sending so much love to her family!! She was a real one and one of the funniest people out here!!! Gonna miss you buddy!!!" he wrote.
Knowings' manager, Al Hill, also remembered her creative range in a statement: "Christy was a multi-talented lady. Whether it was singing, acting, dancing, she was always creating. Always professional and dedicated to her work." Her aunt, Tyleah Joseph, confirmed the news on Facebook, writing that her brother Charles' daughter, Christy, had passed away.
Life Beyond Nickelodeon
Born February 25, 1980, in the Bronx, Knowings had a twin brother, Chris Knowings, who also pursued an entertainment career, appearing in Spike Lee's 1994 film Crooklyn and later on Nickelodeon's Taina and The Nick Cannon Show. After her run on All That, Christy appeared in three episodes of Sesame Street between 2008 and 2011 alongside her brother, and had a credit on New York Undercover. In 2020, she released an original folk single titled "To the World."
A Somber Year for the 'All That' Community
