Christy Knowings, an ensemble cast member on the hit Nickelodeon sketch comedy series All That, has died at age 46. Knowings suffered a severe asthma attack on Friday, August 7, which left her with brain damage, according to family members who spoke with TMZ. She was placed on life support at a Los Angeles-area hospital, and her family made the decision to remove her from life support on Tuesday, August 11, when she passed away.

A Formative Role on '90s Kids TV

Knowings joined All That in Season 4, appearing in 32 episodes across three seasons from 1997 to 2000, before returning as a guest star in the show's tenth season. She played a range of recurring characters, including Winter Wonders — a parody of Olympic swimmer Summer Sanders — as well as Brenda Stone from "Channel 6½ News" and news anchor Penny Lane, among others. She joined the cast alongside Danny Tamberelli and Leon Frierson after first being discovered on the pilot for a Rosie O'Donnell-produced Nickelodeon sketch special called And Now This, which wasn't picked up to series but served as her springboard onto All That.

All That, often described as a "Saturday Night Live for kids," ran for 10 seasons between 1994 and 2005 and became a launching pad for numerous future stars, including Kenan Thompson, Amanda Bynes, Nick Cannon, Kel Mitchell, Josh Server, Kevin Kopelow, Lori Beth Denberg, Alisa Reyes, and Katrina Johnson.

Fellow All That alum Kenan Thompson, who went on to become a longtime cast member on Saturday Night Live, paid tribute to Knowings on Instagram. "Man this one hit hard!!! Rest well Christy!!! Never could have imagined this day!! Sending so much love to her family!! She was a real one and one of the funniest people out here!!! Gonna miss you buddy!!!" he wrote, encouraging fans to show her page some love.

Knowings' manager, Al Hill, shared a statement remembering her range as a performer: "Christy was a multi-talented lady. Whether it was singing, acting, dancing, she was always creating. Always professional and dedicated to her work." Her aunt, Tyleah Joseph, announced the news on Facebook, writing, "My brother Charles' daughter Chrissy (Christy Knowings) has passed."

Life and Career Beyond 'All That'

Born February 25, 1980, in the Bronx, Knowings had a twin brother, Chris Knowings, who also worked in entertainment, appearing in Spike Lee's 1994 film Crooklyn and later on Nickelodeon's Taina and The Nick Cannon Show. After stepping back from Hollywood following her run on All That, Christy Knowings appeared in three episodes of Sesame Street between 2008 and 2011, sharing screen time with her brother, and also had a credit on New York Undercover. In 2020, she released a folk music single titled "To the World."

A Second Loss for the 'All That' Family This Year
